”CSA” stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s a model where community members buy a membership to the farm at the beginning of the growing season and receive a share of the harvest grown in that season. Both the farmer and the consumer benefit from this relationship.

How do members benefit?

  1.  Members receive a steady supply of produce during their membership term.
  2. Shares are hand delivered directly to your home (local deliveries only) on a weekly or bi-weekly basis based on your membership selection.
  3.  You can be sure that the food you receive from us is wholesome. We will NEVER use any synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. We are obsessed with soil health and regeneration.
  4.  All our vegetables are harvested at the peak of their ripeness, just hours before deliveries. They are full of nutrition and taste amazing.
  5. Here at Hader Farm we grow an ever increasing diversity of produce, from the familiar, like tomatoes and peppers to the unusual, like kohlrabi and cucuzzi squash.
  6. Shares are customizable. You choose what’s included or excluded from your box.
  7. Members receive recipes and vegetable storage suggestions.
  8. Members receive first access to add-on products such as garden plant starts, eggs, duck eggs, meat, flowers, herbal medicinals, handcrafted salves and soaps, and more…
  9. Members and non-members are invited to monthly potlucks at the farm to connect with us and with a local community of like-minded people.
  10. By partnering with us you contribute to establishing local food security and diversity.

How does the farmer benefit?

  1. Most obviously, your investment helps us to do what we love and to pay the bills. From the cost of seeds, to irrigation, crop protection, and so much more, spring is the time when most garden expenses have to be paid for.
  2. Your investment helps us to improve the farm. The support of last year’s members funded our brand new greenhouse.  We have many more projects yet to accomplish.
  3. Your investment helps us build resilience, not just on our own farm, but also within the local community.
  4. Your investment helps us to plan what crops and how much of each to grow, so there is less waste than with other sales channels. This then allows us to grow the more interesting but maybe “less profitable” crops – a benefit to both you and us, as well as the soil microbiome.
  5. Your investment allows us the opportunity to care for You, as you become part of our extended family.

So is a CSA membership right for your family?

We believe that memberships are best suited for households who care deeply about the freshness and integrity of their food, who want to invigorate their diet by eating seasonal and local produce, who want to share in a community that supports healthful living practices, who want to support local food security and diversity in an age of corporate-driven agriculture, or those who simply want to experiment with a wider range of produce than what is available at the grocery store.  If any of those describe your household, we would be honored to become your farmers.

What Kind of Membership Should I Get?

Our CSA shares are generally quite abundant.  We recommend smaller households or households with less CSA experience to try biweekly membership, and we recommend larger households, or those with lots of experience eating and storing in-season produce to try weekly deliveries.
