Our Egg-citing Future:

Though the weather outside is frightful, the warmth inside the incubator is delightful!  We have both chick and duckling eggs developing in the incubator, ready to hatch in just two weeks.  Our egg-laying chickens and ducks are free ranged, fed lots of greens and weeds from the garden, and receive certified organic feed.

If you are a CSA Member of Hader Farm and hoping to regularly add eggs to your veggie subscription, please consider adding an Add-On Egg Subscription to your membership to help us determine in advance what size of flock we need to serve you and our CSA community.

The 2026 Garden Plan:

What a year it will be!  Farmer Kathy spent the winter mapping out extensive spreadsheets detailing which crops will thrive in which garden plots during which weeks of the year.  Her plan maps out when seedlings will be started under grow lights, to when garden starts will get to burrow their roots in the rich Hader Farm soil, and all the way to when we can expect their produce. The plan includes almost 200 plantings of vegetables, fruits, and herbs that we are thrilled to share with you.

New Foods to Anticipate on the Farm:

Fruits!

Coming this summer, we are hoping to harvest our planted raspberries and strawberries.  Other fruits will require more time growing before we can reap the benefits, but we planted a huge variety of fruit in 2025, so we expect to see more choices in future years.

Mushrooms!

Hader Farm has invested in a mushroom cultivation chamber this year, so if all goes according to plan, we should have oyster, wine cap, and lion’s mane mushrooms to share with our CSA Members.

Medicinal Herbs!

We’re growing a larger variety of medicinal herbs this year, including: calendula, elecampane, gumweed, sweet annie, wormwood, comfrey, plantain, passionflower, andrographis, etc.  Although these will not automatically be included in member shares, they will be available for the asking.

We will use them to make tinctures and salves.  Please let us know if there are any of particular interest to you!
